Member Clubs Vote on Amalgamation Proposal

On Tuesday 17th February 2015 a Special General Meeting to discuss and vote on the proposal put forward to amalgamate the Scottish Golf Union Ltd and the Scottish Ladies Golfing Association. Also present at the meeting was Scottish Golf Union Chairman Tom Craig.

The meeting which took place in Falkirk Golf Club, was chaired by Stirlingshire Golf Union President Aidan Grounds. In his address the President made it clear that the opinion of the Stirlingshire Golf Union executive was that the member clubs should vote in favour of the proposed document.

The Chairman of the SGU Tom Craig made a short and informal presentation then invited questions on the proposal. Two questions were raised and Mr Craig gave answers to clear up any confusion.

President Grounds then asked the delegates to vote on the ballot papers provided. Volunteer Tellers Mr John McCabe (Glenbervie Golf Club) and Richard McLuckie (Dunblane New Golf Club) then collected and counted the ballot papers. The vote was unanimous in favour of accepting the Amalgamation Proposal and Stirlingshire Golf Union will now cast their shareholders vote accordingly at the up and coming EGM of the Scottish Golf Union Ltd.
