Stirlingshire V Ayrshire Match Report

Unfortunately the big boys were unable to emulate the youngsters away to Ayrshire at Prestwick St Nicholas, going down to a 7-3 defeat. Despite some fine individual performances round a testing but fair golf course, Ayrshire were the stronger team on the day and were worthy winners.

Stirlingshire V Dunbartonshire Match Report

Dunbartonshire 5 - Stirlingshire 5

Windyhills lived up to its name and reputation, tho they might consider adding rain into the name somewhere,

With all matches through the turn Stirlingshire were up in 5 losing 2 and halving the other 3 when the course became unplayable due to the rain and both sides agreed to a halved match.

Before the match, we would have settled for a half so we can’t be too disappointed with the result tho we were in a good position to go on and win the game.

Another good strong performance from the team in terrible conditions and it was testament to our commitment that we were the team that stayed out and wanted to continue while Dunbartonshire were happy to retire for refreshment.

The result keeps us in with a chance of the league with our next fixture away to Ayrshire next Saturday.

I will be in touch over the next couple of days with the team selection and travel arrangements.

Stirlingshire V Renfrewshire Match Report

Result of yesterdays match against Renfrew was a close fought 5.5 - 4.5 victory

We looked like coasting to a comfortable victory around the turn but Renfrew showed why they are Area Team champions with a great comeback which I thought out on the course was going to carry them to a win but with a couple of turnarounds in our favour over the last few holes, it shows how narrow the margins between winning and losing at this level can be.

Well done to all the team, it makes it so much easier from selection point of view when there are no late call-offs, Thanks

Stirlingshire V Lanarkshire Match Report

On a golf course that was in the middle of some severe remedial work that didnt do either team any favours we looked like the team were going to get a good away victory, but a combination of a few bad breaks and a couple of slips saw us slide from a dominant position to a final 6.5 to 3.5 defeat.

While it was a good showing, failing to get over the winning line was a blow but shows that we are making progress when we are disappointed to come away with a narrow defeat.

Congratulations to all the players for their efforts and if things even out we are due a few breaks in games to come.
